About College

Guru Nanak Khalsa College was established on April 19, 1969 with an objective to spread education in this backward area, particularly for girls for whom it was difficult to reach Kapurthala for education. This college is situated near Gurudwara Hatt Sahib. The college provides peaceful academic environment to the students. College is recognized by the Punjab Govt. and is affiliated to GNDU, Amritsar. It has Arts, Commerce and Computer streams along with certain other Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate diploma courses including M.A.(Punjabi) and PGDCA. At present there are about 750 students getting education in B.A., B.Com. B.Sc.Economics, B.C.A., B.Sc(IT) PGDCA, M.Sc(IT) and M.A.Punjabi.

Certain other Certificate Courses, Diploma Courses & Advanced Diploma Courses under UGC Career Oriented Programme are likely to be started in the near future.

This college is covered under the 2(f) series of University Grants Commission, New Delhi. In 1994, Silver Jubilee of the college was celebrated with much fan fare when distinguished old students, now placed at good positions in various fields were honored.

The main College campus is spread over 10 Acres with four impressive building-blocks: Arts block, Sardar Atma Singh block, Administrative block and Principal S. Gurdeep Singh block serving the needs of different faculties.

On the huge demand of the people of the area, Guru Nanak Khalsa College started separate Girls Wing in 2004-2005 session. Then this wing shifted to newly developed campus near Guru Nanak Dev Stadium on Gurudwara Ber Sahib Road. The College provides excellent facility for students like Transport facility, computer labs with latest technology and computerized library. College provides scholarship for merit holders, sportsman/woman and artist students. The facility of well equiped Gymnasium and Auditorium is provided to the students for enhancing their skills. The focus of the college is to provide great level of academic qualification with extra co-curricular activities.

All types of sport facilities are available in Guru Nanak Stadium, which is situated just at a stone’s throw distance from College campus. Play-grounds are available for the games like Basket-ball, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Football etc. The foundation of this great stadium was laid on January 27, 1978 by Sardar Atma Singh, then Development Minister of Punjab. The ritual inauguration of this stadium was performed by Sardar Prakash Singh Badal on 14 Nov., 1979. This stadium has proved a blessing for the youth of Sultanpur Lodhi area. It also provides a convenient and secure venue for the big functions and assemblies particularly when VVIPs visit this historical town.
